Sunday 30th of April 2023
Join us in April for one of the best carriage drives in Lincolnshire at Grimsthorpe Estate.
This fantastic event has a choice of routes that can be driven as many times as you like that run over existing tracks and driveway - totally avoid of public highways and through stunning scenery.
We are delighted to be able to offer the estate to all carriage drivers who are able to show evidence of public liability cover. Sadly, we are unable to let you participate if there is no proof of insurance.
Entry fee is £28.00 per turnout and only prepaid entries online will be accepted - no entries on the day.
The drive will take place between 10am and 2pm. No starters before or after these times will be permitted.
This is purely a pleasure drive. No competition of any kind permitted. Any inappropriate behaviour by any turnout will severely jeopardise the continued running of this event.
All participants are welcome to enjoy the tranquility of Grimsthorpe Park without disturbing it or causing any distress or nuisance to the estate and its residents of whatever species.
All entrants should follow the many clear direction signs for the sponsored drive.
The organisers recommend that all drivers, grooms and any passengers on every turnout wear hard riding hats/skull caps at all times throughout the drive, but this is entirely optional except for those aged under 14 years of age.
Entrance to the park will be from the Little Bytham road - there will be NO access via the main entrance to the castle and you will be redirected to the correct entrance in the event of a mistake - a considerable detour around the perimeter of the park.
Plenty of parking is available and clearly signposted.
You will be given your number on registration and also as you enter the car park.
The routes will be clearly marked to ensure all have an enjoyable and trouble free drive.
Or alternatively, for entry form and BACS payment please see button below. Thank you!
Face coverings whilst on foot in the car park may be required depending on government requirements at the time of the event.
Please ensure social distancing is adhered to at all times.
All turnouts that book in on the day must show evidence of Personal Liability Insurance to the secretary upon registering and before setting out on the drive. All British Driving Society members are automatically covered. If this is not available then the turnout will not be permitted to participate in the event. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
All turnouts must include a competent and able groom.
Drivers/grooms/passengers must be tidily dressed and be responsible for safety attire.
If your horse/pony is shod, please ensure it is well shod and your harness and carriage is safe for the drive - please include your own spares kit.
Turnouts may retire their horses at any checkpoint should they wish to do so, but they must report to a steward. They must also check in with the secretary before leaving the event.
Stewards will be authorised to ask a turnout to withdraw or await veterinary opinion at the start of any checkpoint on the route should they consider it necessary.
The organisers will not accept liability for any damage, accident or injury to any animal, person or property.
Drivers MUST check out as they exit the estate in their vehicle along the driveway.
Drivers must keep to the course and strictly observe all signs on the route and show due consideration for other turnouts and all users of the park. It is essential that the estate is respected and under no circumstances are turnouts to race or seen to be competing against each other - this is strictly a pleasure drive.
No galloping is allowed on the estate.
Entry fees are not returnable if for any reason the turnout is unable to start.
Each turnout must carry a mobile phone and have given the number to the secretary before setting out.
All participants must ensure that their carriage are of serviceable condition to take part in the drive. The organisers reserve the right to prevent anyone taking part if they feel it does not comply with this condition. The organiser's decision is final.
We hope you enjoy the drive and thank you for supporting the Bytham with Creeton and Careby Sponsored Ride and Drive!
